Not typically available commercially.

One (P. tenuifolius) in the panhandle,the other on the peninsula.  P. tenuifolius is almost endemic (there is an outlying documented occurrence in Alabama).  It is listed as Threatened.

The other (P. grandifolia) is endemic and occurs mostly in the peninsula.

Tolerance

Not salt tolerant of inundation by salty or brackish water.



Low/no tolerance of salty wind or direct salt spray

Wildlife

Attracts birds when seeds are present.

Habitat

Dry sites. Scrubby flatwoods, sandhill. P. grandifolorus: dry flatwoods.
